EMDR

(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is a technique developed and first used in the 1980s by a psychologist, Francine Shapiro, for sexual assault victims and veterans with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Since its birth, EMDR has been empirically studied and proven to alleviate many different problems that affect our mental health, including abuse and violence, anxiety, addiction, chronic PTSD, developmental trauma, and panic disorder.

Most of our therapists are EMDR certified and/or trained in EMDR with additional training programs in specialized EMDR protocols for complicated, unresolved grief, dissociation, recent trauma, attachment, and first responders and military.
